Monsters

Monsters -- General

Any good dungeon crawl (and heck, bad ones too) will have lots of monsters to fight. Already in Forge of Legends, I have more than 30 monster types, and I expect to at least double this before release. The main limiting factor in what I can add is art. Below are a select few monsters, as a sample. It is by no means a complete list! Just a few I though I would share as a taste. Enjoy!

skeleton

Walking Bones

These animated skeletons have been granted unlife by some evil power. They seek out the living, bent on death. This form of undead is fairly common in dungeons. It is best to use blunt weapons against them, while arrows will prove almost totally ineffective! Special thanks to Shawn Stallings for the artwork (he's created more than just this!).

  • Name: "Walking Bones"
  • Subtype: Undead
  • Threat: Low
  • Rarity: Common
  • Notes: resists piercing damage, vulnerable to blunt

night strider

Night Strider

The Night Strider is a particularly nasty undead creature. It likes to accompany other groups of undead, then leap into a fight once a foe is distracted. They are fast and deadly, and utterly evil.

  • Name: "Night Strider"
  • Subtype: Undead
  • Threat: Medium
  • Rarity: Uncommon

black widow

Black Widow

Unlike other dungeon spiders, the black widow is stationary -- it does not wander or stalk. It prefers to hang in doorways or narrow passages, hoping to snare a careless player character.

  • Name: "Black Widow"
  • Subtype: Animal
  • Threat: Medium
  • Rarity: Uncommon
  • Notes: poison bite, snaring web

ooze

Brown Ooze

Brown Oozes are the least dangerous and most common type of ooze. They scavenge dungeons looking for any kind of meal, and will attack anything that moves with an unthinking hunger.

  • Name: "Brown Ooze"
  • Subtype: Ooze
  • Threat: Low
  • Rarity: Common
